LIV Hospitality Design Awards Marks 5th Anniversary with a Spectacular Celebration in Shanghai

The hospitality design industry came together in Shanghai for the LIV Hospitality Design Awards, an event highlighting some of the field’s most innovative and inspiring projects. Held at the beautiful Kerry Hotel Shanghai on April 2, the awards ceremony was a true celebration of creativity and innovation in hospitality design.

Notable winners of the evening included 2023 Interior Design of the Year – Eating Space: Audrey Green & Larry’s Bar at London’s National Theatre by Run For The Hills (Anna Burles, Philippe Bougué), 2023 Emerging Interior Designer of the Year – Living Space: Inter(Vo)ven- A Fashion Hotel by New York School of Interior Design (Mihika Chatterjee), 2024 Architectural Design of the Year – Living Space: Dialogue with Nature – Commune STORE by Atelier Global Limited (Frankie Lui), 2024 Architectural Design of the Year – Eating Space: Canopy: A Treetop Dining Experience by Minor Hotels (Rock Venture Co), and 2024 Interior Design of the Year – Living Space: Nanjing Back To Yaxi Manor Resort by Yuqiang & Partners (Yu Qiang, Mao Hua). LIV Hospitality Design Conference, Shanghai, April 2, 2025

The LIV Hospitality Design Conference took place at the Shanghai New International Expo Center, hosted alongside the Hotel & Shop Plus Tradeshow. The morning session, “Designing the Future – Opportunities in Lifestyle Hotels & Boutique Resorts,” explored emerging market trends, the role of storytelling in design, and sustainability in hospitality. Keynote speaker Tina Norden, Partner and Principal at Conran and Partners, shared her expertise, followed by a panel discussion featuring Chiara Calufetti-Lim (WATG), Carl Wee (Wyndham Hotels), and Huan Zhu (Wanda Hotel Design & Research Institute), moderated by renowned interior designer Tarek Hegazy (Living Design). The afternoon session, “Hospitality Design Trends – Reinvented by Social Megatrends & New F&B Experiences,” examined how social trends are shaping hospitality spaces. Keynote speaker Corinna Kretschmar-Joehnk (JOI-Design) led the session, followed by a panel discussion with Kristina Belyavskaya (Cospitality), Marc Schicker (SCHICKER & Co.), and Eric Leong (Minor Hotels), with Arturo Sim (VHC Global) moderating.

LIV Hospitality Design Awards Celebrates Global Design Excellence at Budapest’s Iconic Four Seasons Gresham Palace

The LIV Hospitality Design Awards held an exclusive ceremony at the iconic Four Seasons Gresham Palace in Budapest on April 14th, 2023, to celebrate the winners of the 2020-2021 and 2022 editions. The event was a momentous occasion to recognize and honor the exceptional achievements of hospitality design professionals from all corners of the world.

Co-founders of the LIV Hospitality Design Awards, Astrid Hebert and Hossein Farmani, presided over the ceremony. The winners were presented with their trophies to resounding applause from the guests, as they took the stage to bask in the recognition of their achievements. Distinguished jury members of the LIV Awards, Monika Moser and Tarek Hegazy, added to the prestige of the occasion. Moser, Chief Operating Office of Campbell House, is a “hotelier at heart,” with over 25 years of operational hospitality industry experience. Hegazy, with his long and illustrious career spanning over 33 years, and as the CEO and Creative Director of Living Design, brought a wealth of expertise to the panel.

Industry leaders from around the globe attended the ceremony, including Pure Design Studio, winners of the title of Architectural Design of the Year 2022, an Architecture Office firm centered around Hospitality Architecture – YOD Group from Kyiv, Ukraine, talented designers from COR London Studio, Scott Whittaker, Group Creative Director and chair of dwp’s design council, Mansoor Al Harbi, Emerging Architect of the Year 2022, and more.

Bringing together over 120 talented architects and designers from 22 countries, the LIV Hospitality Design Awards ceremony was a truly international affair, showcasing the excellence of the hospitality industry. The event left attendees feeling inspired and excited about the future of design, and it was a testament to the power of creativity and innovation in shaping the world around us.

Unveiling the Winners: LIV Hospitality Design Awards 2020 Celebration

On June 26th, 2021, the 1st Annual LIV Hospitality Design Awards winners celebration stream took place. The jury panel, composed of 36 talented and experienced professionals in the Hospitality Design field, shortlisted 54 projects, which received an average score of over 80/100 points, and selected the winners of the first edition of the LIV Hospitality Design Awards.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the LIV Awards board decided to host an online event, where they congratulated all the winners, revealed the 54 shortlisted projects, and announced the “Designers of the Year” in different categories, including Architectural Design of the Year, Interior Design of the Year, and Emerging Architect and Interior Designer of the Year.

The LIV Awards are committed to celebrating diversity and quality in Architectural ventures and Interior Design that shape the Hospitality industry. With an inclusive platform, the awards aim to showcase exceptional talent and creativity from all around the world.
