Dear LIV Hospitality Design Awards,

Please watch the youtube link,

The project explores the issues related to small-scale hotels in the context of branding and the Los Angeles area’s urban fabric. I will design a boutique hotel, proposed in conjunction with a non-hospitality lifestyle brand, to be inserted into an existing building. The design will encompass the entirety of the hotel experience from arrival to sleeping in style. The project development will consider the inherently non-linear nature of the hotel experience and its relationship to sources of inspiration, branding, design story, and space-making.
I was challenged to work with the whole experience in a multi-story envelope. The project requires developing an understanding of scale both grand and intimate and local context on the spatial experience. The role of materials and lighting in expressing the Design Story and relationship to the brand would be explored. The finished project would reflect my interpretation of Bentley and how it would translate into the area for Santa Monica.

I really hope you all will like what’s presented and that I can learn from this experience and further develop the designer in me.
