With the notion of transforming an old world club into a new contemporary paradigm, the very idea of transformation informed the program, detailing and material palette.

When entering into the discreet serene space, the chamfered geometry, a talisman which transforms as one moves throughout the club, is a rippled undulating tunnel made of terrazzo and white lacquer.

The screening room is an expansion of the tunnel like entry articulated by a series of overlapping burlap covered shells and electrified “eye” curtain by David Salle.
On floor 2, circulation is centripetal moving from lounge to bar to dining. The “core” is created through manipulation of common oak into a chamfered solid.

At the heart of floors 3-4 is a slot of space, the antithesis of the floor below. A slatted wood and marble stair slips through the slot connecting the gym and spa.

Treatment suites are the most dramatic incarnation of the manipulated wood. Critical surfaces, ceiling and floor, are ones focus. Parquet flooring in a custom triangulated pattern is reminiscent of a flattened chamfer. Wall and ceiling are the chamfer exploded, giving way to a light oculus defining a rooms core, tailored to ones needs.
