SHH designed an extensive new dining facility for the end-users of Jiaming Investment Group head offices in Chaoyang district, Beijing. The brief was to arrange a large dining space of 1,670sqm over different dining zones that would have a very distinctive and comfortable feel. The space needed to be flexible, in order to accommodate corporate events and cookery classes for staff.
The main dining hall provides the largest catering space to meet daily meal requirements for staff and visitors by serving Chinese and international dishes within different dining zones. A formal dining space opposite the main dining area caters for over 50 covers and can also host ad hoc events. Different tones of greys, mid-century furnishings in pastel shades, bronze accents and low hanging lights add warmth and sophistication. A more traditional Chinese “Hot-pot” seating area has been created too, slated timber walls and a distinctive double symmetry arch metal frame covers the rear dining settings. There is a mix of direct, indirect and concealed lighting throughout as the dining areas are in the buildings’ basement and lighting had to counter the absence of natural light.
