Velvet at Corinthia London
Velvet is a new bar experience at Corinthia London, in collaboration with famed mixologist Salvatore Calabrese. The interiors are nostalgic, and designed to reimagine bars of the 1920s. The bar promotes intimacy through its design, layout, and use of lighting, and incorporates subtle decorative details inspired by music, surrounding the guests in a sense of physical musicality. A palette of rouge, electric blue and ultraviolet sits alongside dark-stained timber and gold accents.
The exterior entrance features a bespoke hand painted sign in 23K gilding. The bar seating is a mixture of curved banquettes, arm chairs and stools, with dark-stained timber frames and polished brass and nickel detailing, They are upholstered in rouge and royal blue velvet, and a deep red and ultraviolet floral brocade satin.
The bar tables have dark-stained timber pedestal bases with circular tops in either gold or royal blue mirror. Each table is decorated with a brass cable lamp, with white silk shade. A family of metal cone-based lamps are dotted around the room, with custom domed lampshades in white silk with black fringe and ribbon trim.
