Located in AsiaWorld-Expo, Hong Kong’s go-to venue for gigs and expos, Arena Kitchen is the meeting place for work and leisure. NOVUS was tasked with transforming the dated restaurant into a multipurpose dining venue bearing a visual twist. Inspired by the surrounding sea view, organic waves and curves have been applied throughout the design in a neutral palette to capitalise its versatility. The restaurant is divided into two areas: an intimate dining/bar area and an outdoor cafe space with a takeaway counter. The dining area is lit up by LED lights that change throughout the day to mimic natural light, highlighting its multi-level ceiling that flows naturally into a projection wall that doubles as a feature wall. Movable furniture, with touches of wood veneer finishing, leather and marble tabletops, add warmth and promote fluidity between the areas. The bar area features a 3m counter with faux marble finishing for a seamless feel and complements the flowy display shelf. A wave-like partition takes centre stage in the open area, and like the rest of the furniture, is movable and can be rearranged throughout the day to serve different dining and social experiences.
