Liqui Group’s modern coffee shop design for Brew92 at the Al Zaydi Mall in Mecca, harks back to the glamour of Art Deco interiors. With a palette that mixes warm pink and vivid blue, the coffee shop interior reflects a Tropical Deco style of decor. The clean lines, strong geometric shapes, and curving forms synonymous with the buildings of the period, are reflected in the architectural features of the interior design. These include: the wraparound coffee counter design, the arched doorways, and the artistic way in which the floor is demarcated using differently sized tiles.
A distinguishing feature of this modern coffee shop design is its more intimate ‘sitting rooms’ found on the lower floor. Large, oval-shaped reflective panels reflect light into the darker lower floor area—with their distorted mirror-like appearance, they add a fun element to the coffee shop interior. Slatted archways are also used on the upper floor to semi-enclose the counter area and complement the long, curving banquette seat that traces the window. In addition to designing the coffee shop interior, Liqui created all of the furniture and lighting.
