After the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, the longest sea-crossing bridge in the world, Zhuhai has become the only city in the mainland connected to Hong Kong and Macau by land. It is also a city of immigrants. Therefore, the culture here is integrated with the outer cities while retaining the traditional local folk characteristics.
As a long and narrow medium, encounters become inevitable on a bridge. The suspended space means to detach from the surface of the existing environment, where everything is possible to meet, gather, and distance.
Based on the urban characteristics of Zhuhai, this project extracts the connection connotation of the bridge, links the charm of Eastern meditation with westernized modern temperament, perfectly integrates Chinese culture and western art, and skillfully transforms it into a unique design language.
This project used warm wood veneer, metal, and glass material for its construction materials. In terms of furniture fabrics, soft velvet is a great choice to add warmth to the environment. The unique cloth art evolving from southern China totems brings Eastern culture into the room, which results in a collision of west and east.
