Casa Nicolae is part of a new wave of mini hotels that Europe and the World are increasingly populated with. Five aparthotels occupy a typical Transylvanian small-town home of Austro-Hungarian decent, an L-shaped structure with internal courtyard and gated to the street.

The building is part of the United Nations Heritage. By combining the vernacular with a contemporary style of living, the accommodations have a sense of a home away from home environment that is casual and unpretentious. It is perfect for the traveler in search of medium-length work-away time periods.

By maintaining a rigorous minimalism of walls and surfaces that enforced the austere character of the original, modest and unpretentious, 15th century building together with exposing some of the original architectural elements: respectful of the past, the authentic beamed ceilings where kept in the design and slightly refurbished. Patterns and colours are reminiscent of local ethnic motifs and the general sparsity of the rooms are reflective of the architectural and design character of the times of the building.

Finishes and furniture were sourced locally and reflected the aesthetic local sensitivity.
