It's a pop-up hotel room located in Soho, NYC. The pop-up provides couple's an opportunity to indulge in a “staycation” for a night or a weekend. Offering those who are so occupied with their work a short escape with their partner- to focus on each other and enjoy intimate time together. Although a short break, the disruption of their daily, linear routines, dramatically increases the couple’s bonding, and balances their busy schedules. For the sustainable approach- all the materials are biodegradable and furniture in the room will be donated to those in need. Plaster is the material I chose for the walls.
My design concept is to create a monochromatic dreamy space where couples can reconnect and learn more about each other. Light purples are associated with light-hearted and romantic energies. The circular shapes in the room were intentionally designed as a subtle nod to their unity as a couple- as circles symbolize eternity. Water in the room is an element of relaxation and rebirth- the sight and sound of water naturally increase feelings of well-being and decreases depression.
