The aim for Cashel Palace was to have the traditional country house charm and 5 star hotel luxury, whilst capturing its original grandeur. The 300 year old historically significant building is at the heart of Cashel, opening as a globally favoured hotel in 1962, closing in 2014 as a loss to the town.
The project involved new extensions and sensitive restoration of original buildings to create an opulent hotel. Combining the old and new into a unified hotel with a country house feel required a sympathetic blend of traditional and contemporary luxury. Restoration and new works are to the same quality as the original construction to ensure durability.
The interior starting point was to celebrate the original features such as ornate plasterwork and panelling. Each room has unique colours, art and antiques, combined with 5 star amenities to create calm sanctuaries with comfort at the design forefront. The new spa extension is more modern in style, where practicalities were a design priority, yet it was vital the finishes were warm and tactile.
Cashel Palace’s interior design is timeless, blending the traditional and modern to reflect the heritage of craftsmanship and design in Ireland.
