The name Red Plate originates from a tradition practiced in the 17th-century Qing dynasty. It's cuisine of the highest quality served by the standards of Chinese royalty. The interior design and branding for Red Plate came from the celebration of traditional Chinese craft, artwork and furniture making balanced with contemporary details and materials to create a fresh take on a high-end Chinese restaurant.

Located on the third floor of The Cosmopolitan Las Vegas, Red Plate's exterior was designed to be striking, sculptural and detailed, drawing guests in without giving too much away at first glance. Curved walls with textured champagne-colored plaster contrast with the black metal and brass detailing drawing guests toward the large glass and metal doors. Just beyond these doors is an intricately carved and lacquered cabinet with traditional Chinese landscape painting and inlay. The cabinet provides privacy to the main interior of the restaurant and also serves as the back bar liquor and tea cabinet.

Just past the bar is the main dining space. Large brass screens divide the room and match the design for the sliding doors at the private dining rooms, the backdrop of the space.
