Sun Moon Lake is an alpine lake, named for its resemblance to the sun on east side and the moon on west side.
The lake's water looks like a clear mirror, reflecting the overlapping mountains and lush forests that surround it.
The Wyndham resort hotel locates in "ITA THAO" area of Sun Moon Lake Taiwan, a term that means "we are people" in the Thao language. Thao tribe is the earliest indigenous inhabitants; therefore, the exploration of indigenous culture is a pivotal design consideration.
Many lattice structures and design elements transformed from Thao tribal totems are seen throughout the dining area. The interplay of these elements and lattice layers creates a picturesque landscape of the mountains and waters around Sun Moon Lake, bringing the overall impression of Sun Moon Lake into the space.
This meticulous and elegant integration allows indigenous culture and hotel space to coexist, offering a glimpse of indigenous style transformed into new sense of materials in every corner. It is anticipated that through new sensory and visual experiences, the design will express that leisure and tourism activities can mutually rely on and connect with local culture.
