The renovation of this legendary 5-star, thatched-roof inn & 2-Michelin-starred restaurant preserves the soul & charm of a private holiday home through quiet luxury inspired by the windswept dunes of Sylt, the remote North Sea island called ‘The Hamptons of Germany’. In reception, a bronze desk hints at the sparkling sea as a swing invites breezy fun, bespoke embossed wall tiles resemble sea grass, & porcelain chandeliers feature gingko leaf shapes. Intricately woven spa chairs emphasise pampered beauty. The living room offers cosiness, nostalgia & dining versatility with sofas & height-adjustable chairs by the fireplace for reading from the curated library. The 2-Michelin-star restaurant’s open kitchen adds epicurean theatre. Synergy between diners & chefs increased with food prepared & staged on a new white lavastone island whose curves echo sand ripples & oyster rings. Trays nestle into the curves & magnetically attach to the wall as backlit ‘puzzle pieces.’ Custom gueridons hold tableware & extendable trays in swivel dining chair bases hold handbags & phones. Sustainable FF&E features throughout the destination, which won a green Michelin star for its environmental practices.
