When our client sent us the brief for his restaurant, he emphasised the words "immersive" and "experiential". The client also strongly advocates for arts and "installation architecture" and has an impressive history of collaboration with renowned artists such as Refik Anadol. Building on this foundation, we aimed to further push the boundaries for The Mayflower Chatswood. We aimed to transform the space into a captivating sculptural art form. Our goal was to create an environment where customers could engage with and become integral to the space. Rather than being mere observers, they would interact and become the kinetic movement within the unique atmosphere we crafted. We employed parametric shapes that would dynamically oscillate throughout the space to achieve this.
These captivating elements, crafted with precision using an eco-friendly 3D printing material, create a visual feast that engages all senses and further enhances The Mayflower's immersive nature, adding an element of sustainability. This design breaks free from the constraints of traditional café aesthetics and invites patrons to indulge while being completely enveloped in an enchanting atmosphere.
