The concept behind the design of Hotel Jahorina is rooted in its location and history, inspired by the region’s rich cultural heritage. The core architectural idea is influenced by the traditional three-legged "tronožac" chair, a key piece of furniture in old homes of the Dinaric region. This iconic element symbolizes the hotel’s design, with three wings reflecting both the chair’s structure and the site’s functional zones.
Situated on the slopes of Jahorina Mountain, famous for hosting the 1984 Winter Olympics and being the birthplace of skiing in the region, the project seeks to honor the area’s legacy. The hotel’s form, with its three wings, ensures harmony with the surrounding landscape while providing varied spaces across nine floors and three basement levels.
Focusing on sustainability, the design blends modern materials like wood and metal with traditional craftsmanship, ensuring energy efficiency and durability. The layout offers areas for relaxation, leisure, and business, including a ski bar, wellness center, and direct access to the slopes. The building’s fractured roof design echoes the mountainous terrain, further connecting the hotel to its surroundings.
