This project represents the latest collaboration between Patterns and Karma Group, redefining the concept of a contemporary island retreat in Ungasan, Bali. Our addition to the existing luxury resort features two new apartment buildings of 70,000 sf and 32,000 sf as well as a pool and restaurant amenity. While one building is organized around an open courtyard and bookends the organization, the other, is a free-standing crystalline mass that appears as a landmark. Their architecture feature eccentric roof shapes that provide a contemporary character while alluding to traditional Balinese Hindu temples. A meandering swimming pool and a new restaurant complete the composition enhancing communal experiences, an ecologically sensible and playful ensemble for users to enjoy the serene and relaxing atmosphere. Local materials, such as andesite, lava stone, and timber, reflect Bali’s craftsmanship and cultural heritage, creating a seamless connection between architecture and its tropical surroundings. Our addition to Karma Kandara resort celebrates a sustainable, immersive lifestyle, integrating modern luxury with the island's rich cultural and ecological context.
