Cap Maison is a boutique resort on St. Lucia. The team was approached for the redesign of its 49 villas, a mix of 2- and 3-bedroom suites across 22 buildings. The team wanted the rooms to exude comfort and romance, so they selected a lighter color palette that promoted a relaxing atmosphere and evoked a modern Spanish-Mediterranean vibe. They replaced heavy elements with softer woods and lighter furnishings. They also added gentle draperies to diffuse the Caribbean sunlight. Carved headboards add elegance, while wallcoverings and patterns infuse an airy and breezy feeling, resulting in a blend of tradition and modernity.
Because of the layout of the property and its unique village-like feel, the rooms don’t conform to a block or standard footprint. Each villa has its own unique layout based on the land and the topography. This meant that each room needed to have its own layout and furniture considerations. Throughout the villas, there are very few repeated pieces, making the design feel layered and bespoke with an inviting feel. Each piece has an individual identity that caters to the same aesthetic.
