The brief entailed a 150-room resort and 26 luxury villas located on a unique river island setting. Located 50km south of Da Nang City and just under 4 hectares in size, the masterplan extended to the entire island. The double happiness symbol, synonymous with Vietnamese culture inspired the circular form of the hotel that ripples across the entire site, taking advantage of the panoramic 270? river views. A symbol of good luck, unity and happiness often associated with Vietnamese weddings. References to Cham culture give rise to added warmth and detail. Inspiration was drawn from the nearby Khuong My Towers, the exposed earthy hues of the brick combined with the wild vegetation that has taken root over time. Brick becomes the main finish of the resort, forming a rotating rhythm of structural walls. A double height conference centre is embedded into the resort plan, it’s glazed façade is protected from the heat by a textured ceramic sun-screen. The roof houses the guest pool, café, dining garden and yoga garden. Man made water features echo the circular plan of the resort, allowing each villa to enjoy a connection with water, forming a truly unique setting to live, play and relax.
