This project is a small house for a family of three, planned on a narrow and elongated site measuring 3.6m wide and 15m deep, resembling an “eel’s bed.” Due to setback rules, the effective width is further restricted to under 2.6m. To avoid sightlines and capture southern light, the LDK is placed on the second floor, rather than on the south-facing ground floor. A linear corridor and staircase connect the entrance to the living area, taking advantage of the site's shape. To the north, a private courtyard with wooden decking and green walls is enclosed by boundary walls. The client requested privacy and a refined exterior. In response, the entry wall, balcony, second-floor western boundary wall, and overhanging eaves are integrated into a continuous frame, forming a sculptural facade under 1.5 bays wide. At night, the exterior is further articulated by lighting. Indirect lighting and textured tiles enrich the corridor and stairway, guiding occupants to the second floor. Despite strict building coverage and floor area ratio limits, the design creates generous spatial experiences through well-crafted intermediary zones.
