Known as the “First Lady of Waikiki,” Moana Surfrider is undergoing a transformative renewal that honors its 1901 Victorian soul while elevating every guest touchpoint. The refreshed Historic Lobby is light-filled and tranquil with curved seating, sculptural chandeliers and refined millwork; a custom light piece and botanical art echo the courtyard’s 128-year-old banyan. In the Tower Wing, reimagined rooms deliver serene modern beach luxury: clean, rhythmic patterns, warm metallics, integrated work zones and curved banquettes framed by lanais that extend living outdoors and views. Key design elements: biophilic cues drawn from banyan forms; a base palette inspired by where fresh and ocean water meet, layered with wing-specific accents; diffused and dappled lighting that softens edges and reveals detail; organic shapes and resilient materials calibrated for oceanfront life today. Upcoming phases extend this design approach into the Banyan and Diamond wings and introduce a new oceanfront event space, unifying the property ahead of its 125th anniversary on 3/11/26. The design renews heritage with clarity, comfort and craft: Waikiki’s past and present in effortless dialogue.
