The NH Hotel Köln Altstadt underwent a comprehensive refurbishment commissioned by the Spanish NH Hotel Group. Located near the Rheinauhafen, the hotel offers 204 rooms across six floors. The renovation began in 2019 with the rooms and corridors, followed in 2020 by the redesign of the public areas.
The concept focuses on flexibility and multifunctional use. In addition to an inviting lobby complete with a fireplace, the new coworking area stands out as a key feature. Designed for both hotel guests and external visitors, it offers a variety of work settings — from private workstations to collaborative zones — encouraging focused work as well as creative exchange.
Wherever possible, existing furniture and materials were reused, adapted, and reintegrated into the design. The result is a timeless and sustainable interior that combines comfort, functionality, and durability — ensuring the hotel remains contemporary and welcoming for years to come.
