Located in Asheville’s River Arts District, The Radical is a bold adaptive reuse project that transforms a 1920s warehouse into a 70-room boutique hotel. Layered with street art and industrial textures, the interiors channel the building’s eclectic history while embracing the spirit of its creative neighborhood. The design blends cinematic details and local craftsmanship to create a distinct rebel-luxe interior. Large sculptural furniture imitating the original family heirlooms add touches of southern hospitality while high-touch finishes contrast the exposed concrete ceilings.
Each of the hotel’s food and beverage venues, created in partnership with renowned local chef Jacob Sessoms, carries a distinct visual identity. Afterglow transitions from a relaxing coffee bar into a kinetic cocktail lounge inspired by circus relics. The main restaurant, Golden Hour features charred woods, patinated metals, and vaulted ceilings—echoing a wood-fired chophouse. Upstairs, The Roof brings open-air revelry with raw textures and vintage neon, while Pretty Vacant, a secret ‘green room-inspired bar’, delivers a subversive hideaway with graffiti murals and found-object decor.
