Moagem is a hospitality project born from the adaptive reuse of a former industrial mill in Viana do Alentejo, Portugal, transformed into a contemporary industrial hotel closely connected to its architectural heritage and local context. Conceived as a destination, the project invites guests to experience the building’s history through space, materiality, and atmosphere.
The rehabilitation preserves as much of the existing fabric as possible (machinery, structures, or exterior frames), while integrating modern hospitality requirements for comfort, performance, and sustainability. Rainwater harvesting, photovoltaic panels, and internal social and environmental guidelines reinforce responsible practices.
Comfort is ensured through discreet technical solutions, including underfloor heating, interior triple-glazed windows, air conditioning, acoustic treatments, and bespoke furnishings. Graphic and interior design extend the industrial narrative with a sober, material-driven language across architecture, signage, print, and digital platforms.
Bio At Mainside S.A., we believe that the rehabilitation of a building must be carried out with deep respect for its essence and history.
