Luoyang Honden Novotel adopts “cultural translator” as its core design concept, deeply integrating the cultural context of the ancient capital of thirteen dynasties with Novotel’s French concept of freedom and ease, creating a habitable micro-museum that can be perceived and touched.
The design extracts local cultural symbols of Luoyang and transforms them into spatial language: the solemnity of the Longmen Grottoes is condensed into the light and shadow layers of the lobby; the colorful glazes of Tang Sancai become the contrasting color details in the soft furnishings; and the imagery of peonies is delicately incorporated through art installations and murals. The wavy lines of the exterior facade echo the rhythm of the Luo River, while the geometric patterned floor tiles and metal grilles indoors replicate the architectural texture of the ancient capital.
In terms of materials, marble, wood veneer, metal and glass interact, balancing texture with transparency; in terms of color, the blue, red and yellow of Tang Sancai interweave with the brand’s warm orange and calm blue, creating an atmosphere that combines historical depth with relaxed comfort.
