Cuvaison Winery wanted an intimate experience that would showcase the beauty of the property near their man-made irrigation pond. Surrounded by native plants, the pond attracts several species of waterfowl and migratory birds. In this unique setting, the tasting pavilion invites its guests to appreciate the winery’s stewardship of the land, as much as the award-winning wine in their glasses, while allowing them to fully immerse themselves in the serene surroundings. The tasting pavilions and small enclosed back-bar support structure are positioned near the water’s edge, nestled among existing oak trees. A raised boardwalk connects the structures, immersing guests in the shifting landscape, enhancing their connection to the natural surroundings. Floating above the pond and open on three sides, the pavilions utilizes natural ventilation and daylight while allowing native animals to access the water. The experience is enhanced by the ability to see and hear the tranquility of nature nearby, a release from the stresses of everyday life. Wood slats provide privacy and reduce southwest winds, making it the perfect oasis.
