Goodnight’s Primes Steak + Spirits transformed a historic storefront and structure into a unique high-end restaurant and bar. The design preserves the history and local charm while integrating contemporary elements. A distinguished aspect of the design was raising the roof, adding a mezzanine level and a rooftop terrace, allowing more intimate spaces and “al fresco” options for diners.. The narrow infill structure did not provide sufficient natural light. This overly dark interior was addressed by adding a continuous skylight on the east side of the new roof. The primary structural system for strengthening the 144 year old masonry structure was the addition of two steel moment frames and concrete slab on metal decking at the Mezzanine. A glass hydraulic elevator intersects accessibility, functionality with contemporary style. Wine storage was located in a glass enclosure located under the stairs, utilizing space that might otherwise be overlooked. Adding the integration of a proven acoustical treatment behind white oak wood slats along the walls and ceiling create the perfect ambient environment for an enjoyable meal within an architectural gem, elevating the dining experience.
