The FS11 Building is a contemporary reinterpretation of Póvoa de Varzim’s architectural heritage, rehabilitating and expanding a 1930s building — originally extended in 1947 —to house four homes for a single family. Located in the historic city center, the project balances individual autonomy with collective belonging, creating independent dwellings with distinct entrances while preserving shared spaces that reinforce family ties.
The original volume accommodates two apartments with a shared entrance, while two new three-storey houses have independent access. A communal hall and outdoor area on the ground floor form the social heart of the ensemble. The main facade preserves the historic window rhythm, reinterpreted through contemporary language, while a glazed stairwell stitches old and new. Generous rear openings and balconies enhance light, ventilation, and solar orientation.
More than a housing project, FS11 celebrates architecture as a mediator between generations, respecting memory while embracing modern living.
