In the heart of Monterrey’s historic downtown stands the Gran Hotel Ancira, an urban landmark that has witnessed social events, cultural shifts, and the city’s transformation for over a century. Its French-inspired architecture, rooted in the elegance of the Belle Époque, has made it a symbol of tradition and refinement. Today, however, the hotel faces the challenge of preserving its historic essence while meeting contemporary hospitality standards. Beyond physical deterioration, there is a disconnect between its original luxurious identity and the experience currently offered to guests.
This project addresses that critical moment by proposing an interior rehabilitation that does not replace the existing character, but rather reinterprets and reactivates it. The objective is to restore the hotel’s ability to engage users by creating a dialogue between history and modernity, allowing the Gran Hotel Ancira to reconnect with new generations while honoring its legacy.
