The hot spring resort hotel is situated in "ITA THAO" area of Sun Moon Lake Taiwan, a term that translates to "we are people" in the Thao language. Thao tribe is the earliest indigenous inhabitants, therefore, the exploration of indigenous culture is a pivotal design consideration. The design scope includes hotel lobby and all F&B area from 1F to 3F.
Exploring the memory of culture in peace
The Thao people invented a unique fish trap for livelihoods and wooden pestle for music.
The waved wall and curved stair are interconnected by lattice structure depicts the picturesque lakeside along Sun Moon Lake. The sofa area on wave pattern carpet is enveloped by hard wood lattice and soft wire net to deliver the image of fishing life on lake. The high lattice shape gracefully blurs the space that bridges the lobby and lounge area horizontally, and also creating a harmonious linkage between the upper and lower levels vertically. It can define space depending on designated functions while still preserving broad vision. Guests can stay with privacy and stability through the lattice screens, allowing them to enjoy relaxed dining atmosphere and leisurely vacation experience.
