Bondi Green
Our brief was to design a colourful, but still pared-back, industrial-luxe design scheme for Bondi Green, a new all-day bar, restaurant and al fresco café/bakery beside the peaceful waters of the Grand Union canal in West London. To run riot with a Miami inspired palette, in an unadulterated celebration of tone and texture, playing with pattern clash and experimenting with wow factor specialist surface finishes.
Our design challenges included zoning such a huge, light-filled space, with super high ceilings, creating zones and nooks. The design of the venue’s huge hero bar was also a major challenge of scale, needing to incorporate not one but two cocktail stations, a dedicated tank beer zone, wine tasting section, a working, live bakery and dedicated pizza oven.
The results: our design puts colourful glamour centre stage, with giant art and dramatic arches lit atmospherically. Furnishings pop in extrovert clashing botanical and animal print fabrics. And the huge space is zoned through planting and highly textured metallic specialist wall finishes, sparkling day and night. With a perfectly positioned ‘opening’ in the centre of the bar, straight down the barrel of the pizza oven.
