With the directive to create interiors to act as a backdrop for his ever growing art collection — Jorge Perez’s penthouse home at Park Grove is intentionally clean. The selection of furniture is a mix of pieces won at auction, selections from showrooms, and favorites from Minotti, Lindsey Adelman, & Apparatus. Vintage Vladimir Kagan chairs were reupholstered in Holly Hunt Mohair, and a custom rug was commissioned by Hechizoo in copper & nylon. Striking materials were saved for bathrooms: Phoenix marble with painterly, stroke-like veining mixed with grooved Bianco Carrara and Platinum de Savoie to create elegant and luxurious settings. The design team worked closely with Jorge to curate the collection for his home, creating furniture arrangements & making material selections in tandem to marry with art.
Although the home is full of priceless art and furnishings, the focus was very much on comfort. Sofas are meant to be lounged on, fabrics are cozy to the touch, and Jorge was especially focused on having a flexible dining space so that gatherings of all sizes felt intimate. Family and guest sleeping quarters are vibrant, and the upper outdoor deck has a resort-like feel.
