Perched on an lush hillside overlooking the Andaman Sea, AGE Restaurant is an avant-garde fine dining restaurant, delivering a modern twist on the traditional steakhouse. Designed by Bangkok based architectural firm, SO Architects, the dimly lit, textured interiors have a polished, elegant design aesthetic. The design concept reflects an atmosphere of “Flame and Burn” and smoky sophistication is achieved by a selection of tactile textures, furnishings and a moody palette of charcoal, obsidian and steel which is enhanced by black charred wood, smoked leather and brushed metal.
The lead designer, Narong Othavorn collaborated with artists, John and Zac Underwood, to create playful art pieces - mechanical sculptures like the kinetic wine opener and wall sun dial. Together these elaborate sculptures made from recycled materials give the restaurant a joyful exuberance.
Dark ornate millwork wall trim and plush leather booths create a sense of intimacy and the see-through glass fronted wine cellar and separate dry-aging room gives diners a window into the dry-aging process and celebrated cellar including rare reds from the world’s most revered estates.
