Indego by Vineet is a multi-award-winning Michelin Star restaurant located in the lavish Grosvenor House Hotel in the Marina district. The brief was to capture the essence of colonial India whilst echoing the vibrant modern culture of the country. The restaurant was historically a dining room, but the new design includes an extraordinary feature bar and a private dining room to expand the restaurant’s luxury offerings. The design team was tasked with creating indoor-outdoor dining spaces with uninterrupted views of the marina whilst retaining the decade-old appeal of the much-loved soul of Vineet’s restaurant. Guests are welcomed into a lotus-inspired hall through a splendid large green lacquered door with brass door knockers, striking foliage-inspired wallpaper, eccentric feathered lamps and Nataraja statues.
The overall aesthetic transports guests into a time of bygone royalty with lush upholstery-clad lounging chairs and banquettes. Collectable Jhutis framed in modern perspex are dotted throughout the restaurant, and old Jhalli screens have been repurposed. Time restrictions were tight, so many original features were retained.
