Interiors reflect the Japanese inspiration with fan-like shapes and minimalist metal work that echoes the Japanese ryokan style, creating a completely different concept from the hotel whilst holding international allure for future expansion. Design showcases modern oblique lines, warm bronze mirrors, and flashes of vibrant orange (a nod to the bird of paradise flower seen alongside the hotel’s pool). Elements are inspired by nature, from the indoor-outdoor concept of the terrace, to the textures of ash wood panels, bamboo, washed linen, natural stone and earthenware crockery; combining for a striking ambiance to enjoy our signature fusion delicacies. Drawing much inspiration from the Japanese Wabi-Sabi principle, the restaurant celebrates the ancient aesthetic vision of finding ‘beauty in imperfection’ in using natural and rustic elements across the interiors and architecture, from earthenware crockery to the linen tableware and brushed concrete floors. The new bar section is inspired by the traditional Japanese Isakaya sake bars with caged feature shelves and wooden panelling with the letters O, K, and U cleverly hidden throughout, an homage to the inner-space meaning of OKU.
