Unveiled March 2023, budget undisclosed, this new-build hotel’s concept draws inspiration from 19th century monarch Queen Caroline (Caro) of Bayern (Bavaria), collector of art by women & renown for her spirituality, open-mindedness, femininity & love of the region. Located near Munich at Lake Tegernsee in the Bavarian Alps, the Caro & Selig (blessed), Tegernsee, Autograph Collection embodies the brand’s ethos, 'Exactly Like Nothing Else' through a design curated to distinctly mirror the serene locale. Public spaces blend feminine and Bavarian artistry: ceramic fireplace cladding depicts Caro, & a traditional porcelain urn is really crafted from glass shards in a creative twist. Modernity meets historic bräustüberl (brewhouse) with a handpainted Lüftlmalerei ceiling mural & eclectic furnishings. Witty guestrooms details include Bavarian leather trouser-inspired lights & bobble-textured rugs inspired by the regional flag, plus some have open-plan sleeping & bathing spaces. The spa echoes Caro's contemplative spirit amid Tegernsee's purity, & sustainable FF&E in pursuit of LEED Gold was crucial to achieving a harmonious blend of history, nature & mindful design throughout the hotel.
