The overall design drew from the rich history of Maryland and other cities along the Potomac River in the greater DC area. We wanted to blur the lines between modern and traditional elements in a unique way throughout the space. Each area from the bar lounge to the dining area has its own character and story but carries the same concept throughout. We wanted the design to give guests a different experience each time they visited. We achieved this through cohesive but varied color palettes for each area, different types of seating groups and dining experiences. The enlarged bar creates a destination for guests to have a drink with friends or alone while the bar lounge creates a more causal and quiet dining experience by the entrance. The bar design itself lends itself for even more varied experiences by having the lively bar area with TVs to watch the game with other guests or the smaller adjacent room for groups to rent out for a more private setting. The philosophy behind our design was to create a space where guests would start their night and hopefully come back later to end it.
