Kempinski Hotel San Lawrenz is located on Malta’s Gozo island, set amidst semi-tropical gardens. The design concept is to encapsulate the beauty of Gozo’s architecture, vibrant culture and landscape, blending historic charm with contemporary design and local artistic influences.
The existing interior architecture in local limestone has been preserved and enhanced with new furniture and lighting, creating a harmonious retreat ambiance. A palette of terracotta, sand beige, sea blue and natural stone infuses the hotel with ‘la dolce vita’ of the Mediterranean feel. Natural light streaming through the lobby skylight is accentuated by a custom-made chandelier, highlighting the central seating area adorned with an olive tree, bringing a touch of nature indoors.
Natural stone tables and rattan chairs evoke the craftsmanship of local Gozo artisans. This is further enhanced by a curation of sculptures, sculptural consoles, and Maltese lace pattern in brass – all of which are original works by local artists.
The concept balances history and modernity, formality and informality, and offers a relaxing atmosphere while experiencing the rich culture of Gozo island.
