Belmondo is an Italian restaurant situated in the city of Linköping in Sweden.
Our Interior design for the restaurant aims to whisk away the customer to the 1970's Amalfi coast. Giving the city it's new Italian living room that feels like summer all year around.
The client approached us sometime in 2023, with the wishes to open the best Italian restaurant in town. We stated from early on that it was of utmost importance that we didn't try to cheat in terms of materials.
The Marble, which is plentiful, was handpicked in Verona. The light fixtures are hand made in venice and even the porcelain and stoneware is hand picked on Sicily.
The restaurant is divided in three sections. The outdoor area, the area dubbed 'the terrace' with Sienna marble clad bar, and the dining room, closest to the kitchen.
The open kitchen is framed by surrounding book-shelf in a vibrant red hue with top slabs in Van Gogh Onice. The open plan provides a sense of honesty and dialouge with the customer, mirroring the sensibility of Italian cuisine.
We tried to make sure that there is no shortage of things to look at. The custom made book shelfs are filled with things echoing the theme of Belmondo.
