The project involves a masterplan for Sítio Mata Comprida, a 27.6-hectare site in Campos do Jordão, one of Brazil's most popular mountain destinations in the Serra da Mantiqueira. The goal is to transform this area, rich in valleys, hills, araucaria trees, and waterfalls, into a sustainable destination focused on ecotourism, hospitality, and culinary experiences rooted in local culture. The master plan was developed in three key stages: analyzing the site to identify challenges and opportunities, envisioning a future for the site's development as a premier tourist destination, and creating an economic and financial model for its operation over time.
The plan emphasizes creating unique immersive experiences that seamlessly blend gastronomy, ecotourism, and diverse hospitality offerings with the natural landscape. Guided by the principles of regenerative development, the architecture and open spaces are designed to maintain a delicate balance between human activity and the natural environment. Structures are elevated on pillars to minimize soil impact, while the use of lightweight materials and sustainable practices aims to create a legacy that ensures the vitality of the site.
