This custom house plan for a parent and child redefines luxury living on a narrow flag lot near central Tokyo. Despite its urban proximity, the site offers tranquility, with a two-meter-wide frontage leading to a private retreat. The sculptural approach integrates stairs, lighting, and a boundary wall, guiding visitors to the second-floor entrance for a sophisticated and welcoming arrival experience.
The semi-basement first floor houses private spaces, including a serene master bedroom, studio, and spa-like bathroom with a jetted tub overlooking a tranquil tsubo-niwa courtyard garden. This meticulously designed light-filled centerpiece enhances natural airflow and brings nature into daily life, creating a calming oasis of relaxation and an inviting ambiance.
The second floor features refined guest accommodations and part of the public space, while a dramatic central void ascends to the third-floor dining area, bathed in abundant sunlight and offering expansive views. Every detail blends understated luxury, modern design, and the intimacy of nature, delivering a truly elevated and serene living experience.
