The design draws deeply from the region’s unique geographical and cultural essence. The winding coastline, shaped by millennia of tides, whispers its eternal connection to the sea. This rhythm finds its echo in meandering pathways, soft undulations in the terrain, and fluid transitions between indoor and outdoor spaces. Meanwhile, the majestic presence of the Great Wall and the iconic Shanhai Pass inspire layered terraces, stone textures, and sculptural elements, weaving history into the present.
The landscape design abstracts Qinhuangdao’s natural features, blending history with nature. Towering pines frame peaceful spaces, while rough-hewn boulders ground the design in timeless simplicity. The tidal flats of Geziwo are reflected through flowing stones and undulating surfaces, echoing the rhythm of the tides. Sculptural landforms and dynamic alignments evoke the Great Wall meets the sea, while sandy textures recall coastal beaches.
Bio Mr. Lai Zunheng graduated from Harvard Graduate School of Design with a Master's degree in architecture. He has worked for internationally renowned architectural design firms, including SOM in New York, 3XN/GXN in Copenhagen, and Neri&Hu Design and Research Office in Shanghai.
Mr. Lai Zunheng has complete international large-scale public building design experience, and his main projects include Singapore Changi International Airport T5 Terminal, Bangalore T2 International Terminal, Kansas New Terminal, Saudi Arabia Riyadh Hotel Apartments, etc.
