We approached The Ned Doha as an architectural dialogue between preservation and transformation. Designed in the 1970s by Lebanese architect William Sednaoui, the former Ministry of Interior is a Brutalist icon of Middle Eastern modernism. Our lighting concept sought to reveal its sculptural essence while shaping a new language of contemporary hospitality.
We treated light as a material extension of the architecture. Precision illumination traces the façade’s rhythm and depth, turning concrete into a canvas of quiet monumentality. Inside, we crafted a cinematic interplay of warmth and contrast inspired by 1970s glamour. Each space unfolds through subtle transitions, where reflections, textures, and shadows define an atmosphere of refined intimacy.
The result is a layered, emotionally intelligent lighting scheme that honors the past yet feels unmistakably current. Through light, the building rediscovers its identity and reclaims its place within Doha’s evolving architectural narrative.
