This former queen’s palace within Qila Mubarak, has been meticulously restored into Punjab’s first luxury palace hotel, blending late Mughal, Rajput, Sikh and Colonial design. Conservation architect Abha Narain Lambah revived original arches, painted ceilings, jharokhas and Charbagh-style courtyards, reinstating authentic materiality and symmetry. The 35 suites follow jewel-inspired themes: Pearl with layered whites reflecting Mughal purity; Sapphire with the palace’s signature blue motifs; Topaz with colours drawn from Punjab’s mustard fields and Jamawar shawls; and Coral with plush velvets and mirrored details echoing sheesh mahals. Public spaces honour the palace’s ceremonial past—Neel, the restored durbar hall, introduces equestrian-themed detailing, while The Patiala bar captures Belle Époque opulence. Former kitchens now house AURA, a serene wellness space. Through craftsmanship, custom wallpapers, revived motifs and atmospheric lighting, Ran Baas becomes a living expression of Punjab’s heritage, reimagined with contemporary luxury.
