CASA NGULUKO is a multi-family boutique hotel located in Yuhu Village at the foot of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, Lijiang. Surrounded on all sides by traditional Naxi homes, the site has no external façade, prompting an inward-focused design strategy. The architecture integrates seamlessly into the village fabric, using a “stitching” approach to fit between existing buildings, preserving the spatial rhythm and scale of the settlement.
A central water courtyard serves as the heart of the hotel, softly linking shared living spaces while reflecting the sky and mountains. The layout unfolds gradually inward, creating a layered and immersive experience. Rooftop terraces and large framed windows in guest rooms offer unique views of the surrounding peaks. Materials like local stone, bamboo, and timber are used in modern ways, reflecting a balance between heritage and innovation.
The design creates a tranquil and culturally rooted stay, enhancing guests’ connection to both nature and tradition.
