"Gorny Vozdukh” Mountain Resort is a hospitality complex set on a 3.23-hectare site within a ski area in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk – a mountainous region, located close to Japan and China. The 18,888 m² development includes a 133-key hotel, 18 hillside villas, and a spa centre, all designed to merge contemporary comfort with the calm and authenticity of the surrounding nature. The hotel is partially embedded into the mountain, enabling ski-in/ski-out access, clear separation of guest and service flows, and panoramic public areas overlooking the slopes. Thoughtful façade rhythms and natural palettes ensure visual harmony with the landscape. Villas rest on light structural supports, preserving micro-relief and maintaining native vegetation. Green roofs, local stone and timber enhance the ecosystem-sensitive approach. The spa architecture draws inspiration from Asian vernacular forms and the imaginative worlds of Hayao Miyazaki, offering a setting where reality blends with fantasy. Outdoor spaces follow a minimal-intervention strategy, featuring meditation decks, fire pits, water elements, forest paths, and quiet recreation zones, shaping a cohesive environment for year-round leisure.
