Opening June 2026, Kafue River Tented Camp launches a modern African safari through architecture that places nature first. Elevated above the riverbanks of Zambia’s Kafue National Park, one of Africa’s most untouched wilderness areas, in harmony with the landscape. 13 tented villas - averaging 115 sqm - set on platforms raised 3.5 metres above ground, allowing wildlife to pass freely beneath and offering river and canopy views. No major trees were removed during the build and the Presidential Villa bathroom is designed around a mature tree, now a striking feature. African Modernism - charcoal-hued structure, tensile roofs that dissolve into the canopy, and interiors that layer craftsmanship with contemporary minimalism. A floating gym and wellness space has been integrated. The Horizon Terrace Suites rise 17 metres above ground, with rooftop lounges 20 metres above the river canopy. Elevated walkways, lined with soft red light at night, avoids disturbing nocturnal wildlife. The camp is entirely powered by solar, with a reverse osmosis bottling plant. Prefabricated frameworks and sustainably-sourced timber were used to minimise the footprint of the lodge.
