Located in the windswept YiJinhuolu Banner, Ordos, natrail · Peng Hotel is a destination retreat bridging wilderness exploration and residential permanence. The project deconstructs three vernacular typologies: the yurt, the mud-brick house, and the cave dwelling.
The architecture is a tactile celebration of the earth. Facades crafted from local soil and gravel aggregates feature rounded, organic corners, rejecting industrial precision for a "soft brutalism" that echoes the surrounding dunes. To counter the harsh climate, the layout forms an introverted courtyard oasis, sheltering a swimming pool and bonfire lounge from the wind.
Interiors blur the line between hotel and museum. Polished concrete floors merge with earthen walls, creating a backdrop for a curated collection of global nomadic artifacts, heavy leather furniture, and cashmere textiles. Comprising just five expansive suites, the spatial organization prioritizes dignity over efficiency. It is not merely a hotel, but a spiritual exploration of culture and a celebration of living aesthetics on the historic Silk Road.
