The renovation/expansion of this project, originally purpose built office space, has brought new development in this community. As the third location of this family-run business, the site was deliberately selected near the oldest surviving Gurdwara in North America and is a cultural/spiritual landmark in the community. The task was to reconfigure and expand the space to meet functional requirements ensuring the design honored the brand’s cultural heritage in a contemporary, casual dining experience. Achieving a balance of honoring cultural heritage and modernity, while navigating practical challenges ensuring a high level of operational performance, made the project a complex undertaking. Custom paisley patterned terrazzo floors guides guests throughout the space, creating a fluid journey. Culturally, we were intentional with every detail. We collaborated with artisans in Jaipur to create semi-precious stone tables and handblown lighting. We were strategic with authentic and balanced materiality and pattern throughout the space. Every element, from bespoke millwork to all seating, was designed in-house to provide comfort, cultural pride and refinement.
