Capitol Bistro. Bar. Patisserie is an Additions & Alterations project that called for a rebranding and a refresh of the existing interior. The design concept seeks to create a tropical oasis within the conserved Capitol Building in Singapore, providing a well-rounded dining experience through a casual and relaxing space for gatherings, celebrations and social interactions. Featuring a modern tropical design that maximises natural lighting, it brings the outside in, extending Singapore’s “city in nature” narrative into the space.
Creating a visually porous and green environment, the design of the bistro maximises spatial efficiency while offering comfort and accommodating diverse occasions with varied settings and seating arrangements. In contrast, the adjacent patisserie is tailored for display, grab-and-go services and shorter stays while the layout of the bar zone is designed to encourage social interactions with friends, passers-by and the surrounding atmosphere. Through thoughtful consideration of the surrounding environment, spatial volume, biophilic design and user needs, the space works cohesively to deliver a complete, comfortable dining experience.
